Black Woman to Head Up Google Startups Program

Jewel Burks Solomon has been named as the head of Google for Startups in the U.S. Solomon, an Atlanta tech entrepreneur, will be the first head of the new Google group. The position will be based in Atlanta.

According to Google Solomon’s job will be to drive the organization’s engagement with other Google for Startups partners across the nation.

Google for Startups objectives is to connect startups with the company’s products, connection and best practices.

Solomon, a graduate of Howard University, is a successful entrepreneur as co-founder of Partpic, a startup designed to streamline the purchase of maintenance and repair parts using computer vision. Partpic was acquired by Amazon in late 2016 and the technology now powers visual search for replacement parts in the Amazon Mobile Shopping app.
